mango love hair

For the second time in 6 months I've had the pleasure of collaborating with NY Design andIndigo Crow. This time working on the launch of 'Mango Love Hair' a new hair salon in Durham.

Jenny from Indigo Crow wrote some amazing copy whilst Steve & Kelly from NY Design some amazing promotional materials.

Social media is playing a big part in Mango's brand awareness in the area strategically following fellow tweeters within a 5 mile radius of the salon has helped mango grow a decent following on twitter enabling them to communicate with people on their 'door step'.

Watch this space to see how the 'mango love hair' brand develops

A Whopping £500 for The Sick Children's Trust

Thank you to everyone the evolve business centre for coming along and making our 2012 Big Chocolate Tea Party a HUGE success.

What made the day even more magical were the amazing raffle prize donations and the generosity of Barclays Bank who matched the amount raised meaning we were able to donate a massive £502 to The Sick Childrens Trust.

Thank you again to everyone who made it possible and to Caroline from the charity for once again coming along to help out on the stall.

Swimathon 2012

It’s that time of year again folks…SWIMATHON!  For the third year running Team Twimmers will be taking to the pool to complete the Team 5k swim and raise valuable money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Just 6 months ago I unfortunately lost my Step Dad to cancer so I appreciate first hand just how valuable the services of Marie Curie are and how valuable they can be to people who are unfortunately suffering from this disease.
Please if you can, help Marianne (Cobweb info), Derek (Bond Solutions) and I to raise as much money as we can for this amazing charity.
Go Team Twimmers!!! http://bit.ly/Swimathon2012

Attitude

I’ve recently taken part in Sunderland University’s mentoring programme aimed at Year 1 students.  The University decided to embark on this to enable the Year 1’s who volunteered for the programme to get a ‘real life’ take on their chosen course from someone in that industry.
My mentee, Nadia born and bred in Sunderland is a smasher, really she is.  She is so enthusiastic, so confident, very knowledgeable and to top it off has great communication skills.  Most of all what I like about Nadia draws me back to my corporate days at Brook Street and a little lesson on ‘attitude’
There is little difference between people
That little difference makes a very big difference
The little difference is attitude
The BIG difference is whether it is positive or negative

Persistence Pays

I was so fortunate to have amazing sales training in my corporate career with Brook Street.  One of the valuable lessons in sales we were taught is that in order to gain clients you really must buid relatiionships.  Not every sale is a quick one, a good CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system is a must and persisentence (not pestering) really does pay.
So this lesson has really stuck with me and just this month proved me right again when I won a project to deliver Social Media training to the biggest company I have worked with (a 125 year old national retailer) – they’d had the proposal for nearly 12 months.  Good CRM meant I kept following up and remaining on their radar.
So ‘sales people’ stick with it, your next WIN could be just around the corner.
