Attitude

I’ve recently taken part in Sunderland University’s mentoring programme aimed at Year 1 students.  The University decided to embark on this to enable the Year 1’s who volunteered for the programme to get a ‘real life’ take on their chosen course from someone in that industry.
My mentee, Nadia born and bred in Sunderland is a smasher, really she is.  She is so enthusiastic, so confident, very knowledgeable and to top it off has great communication skills.  Most of all what I like about Nadia draws me back to my corporate days at Brook Street and a little lesson on ‘attitude’
There is little difference between people
That little difference makes a very big difference
The little difference is attitude
The BIG difference is whether it is positive or negative

Persistence Pays

I was so fortunate to have amazing sales training in my corporate career with Brook Street.  One of the valuable lessons in sales we were taught is that in order to gain clients you really must buid relatiionships.  Not every sale is a quick one, a good CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system is a must and persisentence (not pestering) really does pay.
So this lesson has really stuck with me and just this month proved me right again when I won a project to deliver Social Media training to the biggest company I have worked with (a 125 year old national retailer) – they’d had the proposal for nearly 12 months.  Good CRM meant I kept following up and remaining on their radar.
So ‘sales people’ stick with it, your next WIN could be just around the corner.
